Bondage gear: a buyer’s guide

This collection runs from soft beginner kits to cuffs, collars, spreader bars, restraint systems, slings and position furniture. The right choice depends on how much restriction you want and how experienced you both are.

Start with agreement, not equipment

Before anyone is restrained, agree on what you will and won’t do, pick a safe word (or a signal if speech is restricted) and decide who will check in. Our bondage for beginners guide covers consent, safe words and basic safety, with links to its sources.

What’s in the collection

  • Beginner kits and blindfolds: soft cuffs, ties and blindfolds, including Fifty Shades of Grey and Bang! kits.
  • Cuffs: Velcro, vinyl, padded leather-look and metal handcuffs. Padded or adjustable cuffs spread pressure more evenly than thin metal ones.
  • Rope and ties: soft bondage rope and satin ties.
  • Collars and leashes: worn as role-play accessories.
  • Spreader bars and restraint systems: bars, under-bed or full-body strap systems that connect wrists and ankles.
  • Slings, wedges and position aids: furniture and supports that hold positions comfortably.
  • Impact toys: paddles and similar toys.

Safety basics to keep in mind

  • Never put pressure on the neck. Treat collars as accessories, not as restraint points.
  • Check hands and feet often; numbness, tingling, coldness or color change mean it’s time to loosen or release.
  • Keep a way to release quickly within reach: keys for locking cuffs, quick-release buckles, or safety shears for rope.
  • Never leave someone who is restrained alone.

Brands

You’ll find Fifty Shades of Grey, Sportsheets, Bondage Couture, Master Series, Lux Fetish, Ouch! and Bang!, along with restraint sets from our supplier partners.

Questions people ask

What should beginners buy first?

A blindfold and a pair of soft, adjustable cuffs are a common first step. They’re easy to put on and take off, and they let you find out what you both enjoy.

Are metal handcuffs a good idea?

They can pinch and are harder to release quickly. Many people prefer padded or Velcro cuffs, especially at first. Always keep the keys within reach.
